Airport to hotel – public transport

How do I get to my hotel from Marco Polo airport?

Airport shuttle buses and water taxis (private or shared) can be booked here. It’s advisable to book in advance, especially in high season. Buses take you as far as Piazale Roma, and from there you take a vaporetto (water bus) or water taxi to your hotel or apartment – or as close as it’s possible to get to it by water, as there is no land transport in Venice itself.

For all public transport options including public water bus from the airport or local land bus + vaporetto, just enter your hotel name or apartment address in the route finder ‘TO’ box below to see the best routes by land and water.
Click ‘See details’ for a map of alternative routes with times, bus and boat numbers, up-to-date prices and walking distances to and from stops.

How far will I have to walk?

As well as the transport routes, the map will show you how far you’ll have to walk from the vaporetto stop to your hotel. Note that even water taxis may not be able to drop you right outside your accommodation, especially during low tide. If you have heavy baggage to carry through the streets and over numerous bridges, it may be worth rebooking accommodation nearer to a vaporetto stop – or closer to a main canal if arriving by water-taxi.
