The top 5 hotels and apartments according to guest reviews
The most interesting point about the best-reviewed hotels is that they are mostly mid-range in price.
Only one of Venice’s famous luxury hotels came close to receiving the most positive reviews from satisfied guests. That was the superb 5-star Gritti Palace Hotel, with an overall rating of 9.4 out of 10.
So it’s not necessarily the ‘best’ hotels that make guests feel happiest about their stay – perhaps because expectations are higher when you’re paying over 1000 euros a night.
How reliable are the results of this survey?
The data comes from an aggregated rating index produced by the world’s largest accommodation metasearch engine, known as the tRI. The trivago Rating Index collects review ratings from the major booking sites (Booking.com, Hotels.com, Agoda, Expedia etc). It then aggregates them using a complex algorithm, converting all websites’ rating scales to a 10-level scale. This process results in an easily comparable and impartial score for each hotel – as dependable as is humanly possible.
So which Venice hotels got the best reviews in 2022?
On the last day of the year, three hotels were in top place, each with the same score of 9.6. And all very much cheaper than the most well-known establishments.
Santa Croce Boutique hotel (4-star). Guests especially praised the friendly and helpful staff, the quiet comfortable rooms and the private outside space in which to relax.
Rosa Salva hotel (3-star) is especially popular with guests who like modern comfortable rooms in a historic building, close to Saint Mark’s Square.
Residenza de l’osmarin (Guest house) offers simple but clean and comfortable rooms and suites close to Saint Mark’s but just outside the most crowded area.
Close behind with 9.5 ratings were two aparthotels. These offer spacious self-catering apartments but also benefit from a reception desk with helpful staff.
Ca’ della Scimmia – minimalist apartments in San Polo near the Rialto bridge. Guests love the location and rate staff, comfort and cleanliness very highly.
Al Redentore di Venezia Luxury Apartments – a waterfront aparthotel on the island of Giudecca. Guests loved the peaceful surroundings with easy access to the bustling city just across the water.
There’s just one problem with all these well-reviewed hotels. They get booked up fast. You may be lucky, but if not, there are plenty of other places to stay in wonderful locations throughout the city.
